Terms and conditions for the Aldi ‘Ireland's Biggest Fan’ competition 2025

The below sets out the contractual terms and conditions (Terms) on which you may enter the Aldi 'Irelands Biggest Fan' Competition (Competition) and be in with a chance to win a number of prizes, including tickets for all Irish Rugby senior home games for one year up to the end of the women's 6 Nations 2026. This will include Women's World Cup warm up matches, the men's Autumn Nations Series and both women's and men's 6 Nations 2026 matches (Grand Prize). The Competition is open to all residents living on the island of Ireland.

1. INFORMATION ABOUT US

The promoter is Aldi Stores (Ireland) Limited (Aldi Ireland), with the head of its advertising and marketing department situated at Birch House, Millennium Park, Osberstown, Naas, Co Kildare, W91 YX71.

2. HOW TO ENTER THE COMPETITION

The Competition may be entered by people of all ages (but legal guardians/parents must enter the Competition on behalf of children under the age of 18) (Entrants).

Entrants must enter the Competition through www.irelandsbiggestfan.ie and provide their name, email address and contact number.

Competition Structure:

Part 1 – Weekly Competition:
Part 1 of the Competition is a Weekly Competition whereby Entrants must submit an entry (max 1,500 characters or 300 words) explaining why they are Ireland's biggest fan. Entrants will also be required to answer the following question correctly:

"Which of the following is the Official Team Mascot of Irish Rugby?"

  • Kevin The Carrot
  • Patricia The Pumpkin
  • Seán The Spud

Winners of the Weekly Competition will be announced weekly and winners will be selected at random based on their word application.

Details of the prizes for the Weekly Competition are set out at Section 4 Part 1 below.

Part 2 – Grand Prize:
All of the participants in the Weekly Competition (including the winners of the Weekly Competition) will be entered into a second round (Part 2) for the Grand Prize.

10 nominees will be shortlisted from all of the participants in Weekly Competition to compete for the Grand Prize (Finalists). Each of these Finalists must submit a video to Aldi Ireland via the upload link that will be shared with the finalists to show why they should be named Ireland's Biggest Fan. The videos will be judged and the winner chosen by the ALDI Play Rugby ambassadors (Paul O'Connell, Linda Djougang, Beibhinn Parsons). These videos may be used by Aldi to advertise this Competition and their partnership with the Irish Rugby Football Union. The parent or guardian of entrants under 18 years of age must sign a consent form for their participation in any promotion by Aldi.

The details of the Competition can be found, and nominations submitted, on www.irelandsbiggestfan.ie from 31st January to 27th April 2025.

Aldi Ireland reserves the right to request written proof of identity and age from all Entrants in order to establish whether an Entrant, or parent/guardian of an Entrant, is over the age of 18. By entering the competition, Entrants are confirming to Aldi Ireland that they are 18 years of age or over. If entering on behalf of a child under the age of 18, Entrants must be the legal guardian/parent of the child they are entering on behalf of.

Any personal data which Aldi Ireland collects from Entrants or that Entrants provide to Aldi Ireland will be processed by Aldi Ireland in accordance with its Privacy Policy Privacy | ALDI IE. Please see the Privacy Policy for details of how your personal information will be used.

Details of the Grand Prize are set out at Section 4 Part 2 below.

The Weekly Competition will run in 10 stages through the following dates:

Late, incomplete or illegible entries will not be considered. Aldi Ireland will not take any responsibility for any technical failure or malfunction which may result in an entry being delayed, lost or not properly registered.

The Weekly Competition winners will be chosen by Aldi Ireland based on their entry (max 1,500 characters) explaining why they are Ireland's biggest fan and the successful Entrants will be contacted by Aldi Ireland using the details provided with the nomination.

Part Two – The Grand Prize is set out below:

In the event that an Entrant is unable to be contacted after reasonable attempts have been made to do so, Aldi Ireland reserves the right to offer the prize to the next randomly selected Entrant. Unsuccessful Entrants will not be contacted.

The prizes are not transferable to another individual and no cash or other alternatives will be offered.

Aldi Ireland employees, officers or agents of any companies associated with the competition are restricted from entry.

5. PUBLICITY

The successful winners of the Weekly Competition must provide consent to their name appearing in promotional media coverage (without any compensation) on the Aldi Ireland website and other media including but not limited to TV, radio, out of home, leaflets, press, PR, digital and all social media and internet for any purpose that Aldi Ireland wishes.

The successful winner of the Grand Prize, must provide consent to the details (including the name) of the Competition winner and photographs/images of the Competition winner appearing in promotional media coverage (without any compensation) on the Aldi Ireland website and other media including but not limited to TV, radio, out of home, leaflets, press, PR, digital and all social media and internet for any purpose that Aldi Ireland wishes.

If a legal guardian/parent is entering on behalf of a child, this consent must be provided in the form set out in Appendix 1 of the Terms.

Aldi Ireland is not responsible for printing or typographical errors in any promotional materials relating to the Competition. Aldi Ireland will not be required to give any profit, share or any royalties to the Competition Entrants or the Competition winners.

Any personal data which Aldi Ireland collects from entrants or that entrants provide to Aldi Ireland will be processed by Aldi Ireland in accordance with Aldi Ireland's policies.

6. LIABILITY

Aldi Ireland will not be responsible for any loss or damage which is not foreseeable or which is outside of Aldi Ireland's reasonable control in relation to the Competition.

7. APPLICABLE LAW

These Terms and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or their subject matter or formation (including non-contractual disputes or claims) shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Ireland and the Irish courts will have exclusive jurisdiction in relation to any disputes.
